Imagine someone scanning JamPro for music containing a flute or a harp. There
are lots of tracks on Jamendo containing such sounds, because current samplers
and synths create sounds hardly distinguishable from the original instruments.
But an honest artist will not enter "flute" or "harp" to the list of used
instruments, but sampler or synth. So I guess a clear distinction between "used
instrument" and "sound created" would lead to a significant improvement of the
JamPro search engine. Many potential customers will find what they're looking
for much easier. Don't know exactly how to implement that, whether it's better
to add a new category "sounds" artist's should fill out or to ask for sounds
instead of instruments. I guess fans are more interested in the instruments,
but someone looking for background music for his multimedia project wants to
emphasize the mood of his work hence the type of sound will be more interesting
to him.
