Importance of Author Information

How important is it to know the author of a page immediately? Thinking of:

• forum entries
• articles
• extensions

I'm asking this because we are experimenting with either putting this information above or below the content area.

Personally, I think knowing the author of a forum entry is quite important to rank a thread, I'm ambivalent about articles (blog post or Marks interviews) and extensions:

• Interviews focus on the interview person, not the interviewer.
• Everything about extensions might be important but we cannot put everything in the header.

We'd like to keep the page headers as clean as possible. So what do you think?

I agree that author is an important part for forum discussions since it's a discussion among people. With the others, I don't think it's as important for them to be displayed prominently as long as the information is on the page somewhere.
