I'm going to leave this as proposed because I'm not sure if we want to call this "hold" or "adopt".
The react docs have a pretty decent decision tree on the subject and it doesn't mention CRA from what I can tell, which is a pretty good indicator that it's dead: https://react.dev/learn/start-a-new-react-project
