Improving the properties for units (land symbols) #183

Open harrywipperfuerth opened 4 years ago

The properties of the symbols for units (land symbols) should be improved, since not all amplifiers can be filled in according to 2525c or 2525d:

Remarks:

The ampfliers marked in pink are those that apply to units (according to 2525d).

Proposal for the content and structure of the property window (named "Units") for the units (land symbols):

Remarks:

The green marked amplifiers correspond to the specifications according to 2525d. However, the unmarked amplifiers appear to be useful or necessary.

The Country Indicator (field "AS") is not listed in the amplifier overview (Table D-II, page 171). However, it is listed in the general overview of the amplifier assignment to the individual areas (Table VII, page 23), with the remark, that it shows the origin of the organizations.

In my opinion, the amplifier "Engagement Bar" would not need to be included in the properties section.

In my opinion the amplifier "Installation" should not be enabled here, because installations have other amplifiers than units.

If the user wants to do so, the property windows for units and installation should be the same. Then the users must be aware of which fields are to be filled schematically correctly (e.g. speed for installations makes no sense) or errors cannot be excluded in advance.

The Icon "Change Symbol Type" is used to change the "basic symbol" within the unit symbols without the user having to create a new symbol and thus discard the previous entries.

The amplifier "Offset location indicator" must be enabled when the symbol is displayed on the map:

It would make sense to use the property set "Unit" also for some activity symbols, because for these symbols the property set "Unit" is more appropriate than the "Activity" set (see issue #194).

The assignment, which activites symbols would be "affected" by this, has to be done separately.

With the icon "Change Symbol Type" the user can select the "affected" activity symbols as well as the units, because they have the same property set.

The area "Civilian Unit/Organization" should be mapped with the property set for "Unit".

The unit symbols of the "SIGINT" (Signal Intelligence) area should be displayed with the property set for "Unit".

The unit symbols of the Cyberspace area should be displayed with the property set for "Unit".

The issue was reopened because not all contents of the issue have been implemented in the current version of ODIN.
