This MSC is still very early days and under heavy development. I suggest we wait until the MSC settles down and there are some concrete implementations we can follow.

(For example, when I last read the MSC it suggested it was almost entirely server-side changes, as sync v3 was supposed to be "a strict subset of sync v2", but that has changed a lot in the last week!)

v3 was always going to become a total break from v2, Im not sure when you last read the MSC about it, but since it was put into proposal, at least that part should've been clear enough.
