I use Linux. X11 (and hopefully Wayland) copy text to clipboard by selecting it with the left button and paste text by clicking the middle button. That button is sometimes simulated by a mouse wheel or by pressing both buttons at once, but it's not optimal. Some touchpads allow to do it with a three finger click gesture. However buttons are better because one can position the pointer with the touchpad, click a button and be sure that the pointer won't move when pressing the touchpad to click.
The HP one is better (larger middle button), one row of buttons would be enough - the top one.
It would be great if the touchpad does not move (not a giant button to clicked) or can be made to stay still. Buttons make clicking on the touchpad useless. I always disable it to avoid misclicks.
