I've created a PR for your branch, @mariav0.

Perhaps it would be good to add an upgrade method that sets a default value for the new payment instrument in each profile. The value would be set anyway the next time you save a profile after the upgrade, but if you forget to do this, a submission with a generic payment will still cause the "Payment method could not be matched to existing payment" error.
