Vulnerability to absence of retiring r-spatial packages #1

Open rsbivand opened 1 year ago

rsbivand commented 1 year ago

00check.log 00install.out.txt is a recent check log from running under _SP_EVOLUTION_STATUS_=2 without retiring r-spatial packages on the library path. The retiring package is a strong dependency of rworldmap, please follow https://github.com/andysouth/rworldmap/issues/20 to track progress. You may choose to use another package, or to move rworldmap to Suggests, and condition on its availability - this may be wise anyway, if it is not updated to remove retiring r-spatial packages in time.

Please also see https://r-spatial.org/r/2023/04/10/evolution3.html, fix best by June, latest October 2023.

@szelepke @szelepcsenyi See also https://r-spatial.org/r/2023/05/15/evolution4.html. Please take urgent steps to resolve this issue. No positive changes appear in the repository. Less than three months remain to retain this package on CRAN unless https://github.com/andysouth/rworldmap/issues/20 is resolved first. Consider shifting to https://cran.r-project.org/package=rnaturalearth.

Hi @szelepcsenyi, I see that this issue has led to the macroBiome package being archived on CRAN. We were hoping to import a function from macroBiome for a package we are planning to submit to CRAN. Do you have plans to address the issue? Would you like help?
