Make sure minimal vertical space is respected by all columns.

[ ] track extent of each column
[ ] subd method to compare column extent with placed subd (max of column upper bound or on column-by-column basis)
[ ] alluv property for minimal vertical distance between subds (hspace - as height of vertical padding)
[ ] set the y-offset based on prev. comparison and a hspace between subd-s (a property of alluvial).
