This was brought up in #12. I know it was closed because there was only Dragon Dictate for Mac.

Should this be reopened? Now there is DNS for Mac

dknoxon commented 6 years ago

any update on this DNS for Mac? I just purchased DNS thinking I could get either Natlink or Dragonfly to work, but nada (so far). Unless someone's got an update?

There is 1 alternative for Natlink/Dragonfly for Mac that's pretty great: http://voicecode.io/ Documentation here: http://voicecode.io/docs It's not under super active development anymore, but it is very customizable, comes with a lot of base commands, and has a very active user base: https://voicecode.slack.com/ ^you can join even without having a license (I've been happy with it. I'm not an employee or in any way paid for this.)

For anyone who happens to find this later, voicecode.io development has apparently stopped, and much of the mac community is migrating to https://talonvoice.com/ instead.

(Dragon for Mac has officially been discontinued by Nuance, but the author of Talon intends to develop patches as necessary to keep it working, at least for the short to medium-term. Talon also comes with an alternative voice recognition engine built in, and I assume that is the long-term game plan as long as enough people continue to donate to his Patreon).

For those that don't want to be locked into a closed sourced implementation and want to continue with Dragonfly.

A community fork supports Mac OS and Linux dragonfly2.

In the works in with a open source Kaldi dragonfly engine for voice recognition. Currently works on Windows and Linux. Mac OS support WIP.
