Create and Schedule a Database Backup Script

Description: I would like slides data to be backed up on a regular basis, similar to what I have in place for Geo Trading Cards.

Requirements:

• A batch script that backs up the data in all tables in production
• A Windows Task that runs this script weekly
• Commit script to the Git repo with DEV credentials

Design:

• see "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL14.GMARRMSSQL1\MSSQL\Backup\tscBackupJob.bat" for an example.
• see "GeosTrading Cards DB Backup" in the Task Scheduler

Test Plan:

• run the script once against the DEV database
• make a small change
• perform a restore and confirm that the small change is gone
• run it once after updating the script to production DB creds

Implementation Notes:

• created a batch file similar to the one I created for GeoTradingCards
• created a backup device in MS SQL to indicate where the backup file will be dropped when the command is run
• added the batch file to the repo
• created a Windows task and performed a test run
• exported Windows Task as an XML file and committed it to the repo
