So, I'd rather start this discussion now rather than in half a year when e10s will be enabled and all extensions that are not e10s ready will be disabled by Firefox.

The good news is that tabkit2 is somewhere in top 1500 firefox extensions :D

So, is there anyone familiar with the topic? Will it be just a snip snip here and there, or will it need a major rewrite? Would it be possible for someone to add comments to the code to clarify what it's doing, so someone else could be more easily convinced into contributing to the project?

Well I probably will try to rewrite other smaller extracted extensions first to have them WebExtension compatible first If I can't do that, I don't think this extension can be rewritten

Will TabKit2 simply stop working on the very next release of FireFox ESR? (v. 52.5 ESR) That ESR version supposedly aligns with regular FF v. 57, when all extensions will stop working unless they're Electrolysis-compatible, which TK2 isn't (yet!).

I'm hoping I speak for the many (thousands?) of fans of TabKit2 who rely on it as an essential (and the best) tab grouping extension in Firefox. It is the best there is, for many reasons.

Is there anyone working on ways to port at least the most fundamental features of TK2 to e10s?

Is there a team with the skills to assist PikachuEXE in doing this?

52.5 should be fine The "main" version looks like beta version to me, but ESR is the "stable" version So only security changes (or maybe bug fixes too) are applied to 52.x Right now I plan to port TK2 to work with Palemoon

Palemoon is a Firefox fork which works on WIndows at least I am using its MacOS version too (need to find it on Palemoon forum) http://www.palemoon.org/

Let me know what you think
