Dice up the pdf into .png files per page with graphicsmagick and gs

brew update
brew install graphicsmagick gs
gm convert -density 300 sow-desktop.pdf +adjoin sow-desktop-%02d.png

Will leave you with sow-desktop-00.png, sow-desktop-01.png, sow-desktop-02.png etc.
