Some sort of life sign would be nice… I'm using this plugin in vscode (for my non-Apple-projects), but would really love to also use it with Xcode.

Now appcode was died... we waiting for Xcode :) You can reuse Copilot for xcode

Now that Apple has released its own builtin thing, acceptance for a 3rdparty plugin will be much smaller ­– unless it's of much better quality.

atm Xcode's AI is useless, slow and works incorrect. Atm I use copilot - it's much better.
