Carrossel or Flasher Promo Widget

We are considering a sort of widget that does a carrosel with the "next talks". The key problem here is to find out what a next talk means. Perhaps the right module to identify the elements is the grade2/app.js since it marks the 'current' happening. We want to get the next in each room for each of the happening. Then animate it with any sort of animation.

Another approach to get started is to simply randomize any talk is happening or next.
