The standard fluentd TextParser supports typecasts through the types option. Could this be reintegrated into the patched version in this plugin?

I think it is good for both of users and developers to reintegrate TextParser of recent Fluentd. But I don't have enough time to do it immediately. Of course, pull request with well written patches are always welcome.
