Should we create a discord instead of Slack?

Currently we are using slack for communication. But the The free version of Slack only stores chat records within 90 days, which is not friendly to search and text sedimentation. The commercial version charges by headcount, which is unaffordable for a growing community.

And I found many OSS projects are using discord. I would like to suggest discord for these reasons:

• The free plan of discord can retain the full conversation.
• The roles can be shown clearly on the right side like this 👇
• community can be searched on discord

But discord does not support markdown. I’m not sure if it will be a problem for the community. We have to admit that there is no perfect plan ><

I didn’t research zulip or Gitter. But they are mentioned in the previous conversation. And I found some discussion in other community.
