The 1.40 release currently in the App Center was released in June, six months ago at the time of this writing.
We wanted the updated web interface to be in the next release submitted to the App Center. The updated web interface is in 1.56.0.
When we prepare to submit an update to the App Center we wait a few weeks after the general release on other platforms and QNAP users using our builds to watch for signs of unexpected trouble or regression. That will be in January. We do not have a way to issue a quick-fix nor rollback, if a release makes it out with a regression then it will remain in the App Center with that problem for an extended period of time.
Once submitted to QNAP for testing, it can take several months for the new release to appear in the App Center. So we'd expect an update in probably Q2 of 2024.
Even the qpkg on github is outdated by few months. If @DentonGentry can keep the github qpkg version updated regularly, we don't have to rely on QNAP's app center.
We did not finish the 1.56.1 release prior to the holidays, we're posted 1.56.1 on tailscale-qpkg.
Even the qpkg on github is outdated by few months.
Weeks, not months.
We have one issue in the web client in 1.56.1 which we want to fix before submitting to the App Center. We're now expecting to submit 1.58.
Any news of 1.58.2 for QNAP ?
Any news of 1.60.1 for QNAP?
Any news of 1.62 for QNAP? Why are QNAP users getting royally ignored?
This app is almost a full year out of date. I believe QNAP need to give this some serious attention.
We submitted 1.58.2 to QNAP in February and are waiting for testing to finish on QNAP's side. Once released, I'll report an update back here. This'll include an update web interface that makes some significant improvements on the existing feature set.
Once released, I'll report an update back here.
Thanks!
Fwiw, you can manually install releases from here: https://github.com/tailscale/tailscale-qpkg/releases

Well, that was easy :-)
Many thanks!
Can confirm as @malchmalch, installation is super easy. Just grab the qpkg file and use QNAP's UI. Smooth upgrade from 1.40 to 1.58.2-1.
If I already have the app store version of tailscale installed, will I break something if I manually install the more up-to-date release using the qpkg package from github?
It does seem that package in QNAP's app center is quite outdated - latest seem to be 1.54.
Are you planning to release 1.54 in the app center?
