Hmm. I think it is more a bug that renaming a file changes the modification
date. I don't think that is supposed to happen.

I rechecked it, rename doesn't fix modification date, It looks like I didn't
explain right. For Example I have 10 files with names like DSC37xx.
When i rename photo with name DSC3705 to "1" it drops to the up of list. I
mean, if I swipe after rename, the next photo will be DSC3700, but it should be
DSC3706. After renaming, file move to the start of list, and i should swiping
from the start, not from the place, where i stopped.

Should it not then be sufficient to sort by modification date, instead? That
already exists.

I'd like to be able to pick this sorting mode as a default too.

Why do you need it, exactly?

sort by "creation date" is a must have feature (ascending and descending).
example: if i rotate an image it sets the modification date and the images
wouldn't show in the right order like expected.

exactly what Stefan said – rotating will cause reordering of images, that's
very unwanted
