Can not connect to http://maps.google.com

What steps will reproduce the problem?
 1. Firewall turned off.
 2. Open the app
 3. Try to search for anything
 4. It simply says can not connect to http://maps.google.com

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It should connect. The internet is fine, the firewall is off. Other apps using 
internet connection are working fine.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Latest, 0.8.0.2 on Windows 8 x32

Please provide any additional information below.

Same here, perhaps maps only woks if accessed by https but I don't know how to 
change the url it connects to. I've read that changing the url to one from a 
specific country would work but same as before, don't know how to change it.
oh also, the app doesn't even ask the firewall for a connection
