DOPE 🔥🍕
That is the coolest. Glad to see you doing that. I've built thousands of PCs and made the mistake of souring on Apple almost immediately as they realized they couldn't keep their promise of upward compatibility. I've got a bunch of old Apple computers and old Macs. Then several years ago after some meanderings into Linux, I again re-converted to Macs when I found out I didn't have to do a thousand tweaks to get development environments to work as I did on PCs. Building them is fun though. Did you have to battle with Chinese instructions? Kudos! You've become one of my favorite "mentors."
Congrats on the new build!
A couple of things I'd like to add:
I got a kick out of the Sony T-120 wallpaper. I'm about due for a new PC myself, I went the home-built route for my last two and enjoyed the process, so I'll probably do the same thing again.
I am pretty sure you are a geek. An amazing one. Well done. I am...so far from that. I still have one standing that I am still waiting to cure itself after my finishing touches :)
I always like TomsHardware for help, for example, https://bit.ly/32MGhuK. Quality thermal paste makes a big difference. Nice choice of components. UserBenchmark is also a great tool.
It's funny how software devs all seem to end up with the same kind of PC build. Plain case (no RGB weirdness), a good value motherboard and CPU, any old RAM, and whichever video card you need to play the most graphically intense game you happen to play.
One thing I'd mention as a cautionary tale to software devs doing this is that CPU type (AMD vs. Intel) sometimes matters. For Android development, for example, the emulator in Android studio doesn't take advantage of hardware acceleration and it's therefore very slow when you use an Intel CPU with Windows as your OS. The other combinations - AMD and Windows, Intel and Linux, AMD and Linux - work fine. This is the only time I've personally run into it though.
Is that Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition I spy in the background? Nice!
@lkhrs it is, but I'm extremely impressed that you could decipher that from the image. However, if I'm going to play an RTS, I greatly prefer FAF. AOE2 was the first game I played on the new PC to test it was working, though!
I'm really liking that case too. It's so clean and minimalist, and it looks like it has a lot of space behind the motherboard to hide cables (when I'm not too lazy to do that lol).
I’ve been playing a ton of AOE2:DE lately, it’s been one of my top games this year. I hadn’t heard of FAF though! I’m going to check it out, I just bought Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance since it’s on sale.

Important to note that while it uses the game data from Steam, it's played through the FAF client.

Hey, Tania congratulation on your first PC building. I also built my mini beast https://dribbble.com/shots/14487470-Mini-Beast-Assembled recently and now planning for a bigger one.
Your initiative will inspire many other girls to create their own space. I prefer one more hard drive 2.5 M2 SSD.
Cool! I will build my own PC too, and this just gives me inspiration. Though I do not have an old pc here with me, I guess I should just buy a new one and start replacing its parts. It seems you had a fun time though.

To me, the hardest part of the build is always application of an thermal paste to the CPU. I looked it up and for your CPU the stock cooler comes with paste already applied.

For me it's actually putting the CPU itself on the motherboard. I feel like I go so long between upgrades now that by the time I get a new motherboard and CPU combo, the way you attach it is different. I shamelessly load up Linus Tech Tips and search how to install a CPU every time I do now. :P
nice jazz here just liked the way you narrate everything
Why didn't you load a version of desktop linux? Ununtu everthing is free!!
