Smelter explodes after some time by overheating if controlling other vessels in the meantime. Steps: 1)build a station with storage for metal and metal ore and a smelter and some cooling components 2)fill the metal ore storage keep the metal storage empty start the smelter 3) switch to some other craft and wait e.g. 1/2 hour in time warp 4) return to the craft and "bang" If you wait 1/2 hour controlling the vessel nothing happens.

recommendations use the vanilla core-heat system

Mine were blowing up as well.

Was able to fiddle with the part.cfg file for the smelter to get it to work (so far) with Interstellar heat management. crossing fingers.

How do you "use the vanilla core-heat system"? Other than un-installing Interstellar?

Also, did a "teardown" for a ship I had just built, rocketpart in containers went to "NaN"...

Also, why can't you grab a floating hulk and do a teardown on it and have it recycle directly to rocketparts instead of scrap metal? That you then have to melt into metal, and then work into rocketparts?

IRL you could be able to recycle at least a large fraction directly into rocketparts, though of course some would be scrap...
