Uppercase tags instead of lowercase

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. If i want to have XHTML valid pages, i need output in lower case, but 
all tags seem to be in uppercase

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I've expected all tags in lowercase, but 0.5 version puts only uppercase

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
jQuery 0.5, all browsers

Please provide any additional information below.

Tags are lowercase under Firefox.

Internet Explorer 8 has upper case tags
