buttons not working on IE 8 unless text is highlited

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. open jwysiwyg in IE8
2.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
when clicking on any button is won't do anything unless i have a text 
highlighted

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
WYSIWYG - jQuery plugin 0.6 on windows 7 64-bit

Please provide any additional information below.
if i want to write something in bold, i press the "B" button and type the 
but the text is not in bold, i should select what text i want to turn to 
bold and then press the "B".
This is happening to all buttons
