Genus Myiothlypis points to wrong parent #104

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
A bunch of bird species in the genus "Basileuterus" in the family Parulidae
(Aves) were recently moved to a new genus "Myiothlypis". In GBIF, Myiothlypis
currently points to the order Passeriformes as a parent, instead of the correct
family Parulidae as the parent.

The latest version of IOC world bird names got the updated genus:

We will try to use IOC as the bird reference and override catalogue of life

Unfortunately the IOC record lacks the old name as a synonym. Its gonna be hard
to teach the backbone to not have both names included as accepted taxa. For
example

I had thought that this had been fixed, but checking today it seems that it has
not (http://www.gbif.org/species/7341612). Am I looking in the wrong place?
Thanks.
JWB.

You are looking at the right place. I am sorry to say we did not have time for
fixing taxonomic issues lately. The goal is to deal with this by the end of
march. Sorry
