Turns out silicon sealant is wrong according to Marquis. Just cleaned all the old goop off the threads and seals. Crossing fingers that's a tight seal.
Heating element is back in, but system is not getting a prime on the pump and now it throwing an overheat code. So much fun
Found bleeder valve in the motor and purged the air. Hot tub is now properly primed and heating element is on w/o tripped GFCI. Fixed
From some searching online it appears that the heating element is bad since the startup sequence does a test fire of the heater.
