Query mode Usability #55

Steps to Reproduce

Click on the search field
type "query:", the text field changes to query mode and the textinput loses focus.
On clicking on the textinput again, you can type the query text but there is no way to escape the query mode.

Expected Result

[ ] The text input should not lose focus once the input changes to query mode
[ ] one must be able to press backspace in the query mode to return to normal text mode.
