Plugin stopped working #576

I have been using this plugin for years and has worked great. A few weeks ago something changed and the TV was no longer responding correctly. All the switches now have the name of the TV in the Home app, no matter what I have set it to and any command using Siri sets off all the switches. which you can imagine is not fun. I have deleted my install and installed a fresh OS, homebridge and the plugin however the problem is still there. I've changed mDNS Advertiser but nothing. I don't know what triggered this, the only thing I can think of is that I updated my phone to IOS 16. On a side note the switch status at the top in the TV section of the home app is annoying, I have many switches and this covers the whole screen and makes it impossible to use the switches. can this be turned off?

I've seen this as well, and it appears to be affecting a lot of Homebridge plugins. It started with iOS 16, and other users are considering it an iOS bug, although I suspect that it might be a change in Homekit that will require some form of adaption in in Homebridge/plugins.

This quick fix, if you don't have may switches, is to edit the switch on the iOS device, delete the name 'TV' and it will show you the correct name. Manually rename the switch to match the correct name. You have to do this for every switch, which is not so bad if you don't have too many.
