[Question] No sound from receiver if turn on TV from HomeKit #655

Hi there, thanks for your hard work and the awesome plugin.

I have a quick question regarding the receiver's behavior with a Samsung smart TV (series 7). My TV is connected to an Yahama receiver with HDMI-Arc enabled on both side. When TV is on > receiver is on and vice versa. The issue that I'm facing is, when I turn on the TV in Home app, my receiver is on too, but there is no sound coming out from the receiver even though they are still showing connected. Is this normal behavior due to Samsung API? Many thanks,( and please close my topic if question is unrelated).

Hi @lylydang,

Unfortunately the plugin and how it works should have no impact on this. We just send the command to turn on the TV and after that it's Samsung job.

Could you elaborate a bit regarding the sound? There is no sound because other output is selected on tv, or the volume is down? Or everything is set ok but you just don't have sound?

Hi, thank you for taking your time to reply. I do think that the issue may be due to Samsung or the TV & the receiver. When I send command to turn on TV, for some reasons HDMI-CEC connection is not established properly. There is sound from the receiver for first 5 seconds then it was cut off right after. The first 5s when it still worked, on the receiver's screen, first I do see TV source, then 5s later the TV source disappears > no more sound from receiver. If I turn on the TV with the remote though, it works just fine. I did try a couple troubleshooting on my side like replace cable, reset ARC, CEC connections but still no luck. Maybe I need a new TV :D. Anyways, thanks again! Please close the thread if needed.
