[x] basic support for symlinks as aliases
[ ] list aliases and the Exlir versions they point to (extend the current list function?)
[ ] refactor code

Do you think that the last two tasks can wait? I had them unchecked but when I opened the PR a few minutes ago, they were checked. Not sure what happened there.
