"VITtk":/wiki/Vittk is a bold enhancement for taskwarrior that I think needs a little nudge to become a favorite mode for many users. Steve Rader developed it in an amazing short period of time, and was clever and collaborative about it.

Some surprise and disappointment has been expressed regarding the measly few downloads, but like many excellent products, it usually doesn't matter how good something is, but matters more who hears about it. VITtk is an excellent product. It is a successful model of the interactive mode we all held up as a holy grail, something to work towards, and Steve banged it up in a matter of weeks. Although it is 95% the shape of what we were talking about in an interactive mode, for a couple of reasons it hasn't yet seen the adoption we all think it deserves.

I'll be filing a few bugs and features for VITtk, hoping Steve is still game to modify, and I've a few suggestions for how we might keep this fine piece of work from being overlooked.

1) mention it in the Overview page, with a link to it's wiki page

2) put some screenshots ON that page (not just "Click here" to broken links)

3) add VITtk to the testing suite, making sure it is stable and keeps up.

4) consider making it part of a default task package, and giving it a command alias (task gui?)

5) mention it in the man page

If the taskwarrior roadmap no longer points to "interactive GUI" ala htop, rather than abandoning that, perhaps we could continue to groom VITtk to fill that void, presuming stability and security and all those goods things ?

It's a well done useful enhancement that's almost there, lets not let it die on the vine.

Resuscitation? Really?? Can we change the subject to "VITtk needs better PR etc"? :)

Just discovered vittk, looks pretty sweet... from my newb pov, I'd emphasize the importance of screenshots - I'd skipped over it several times due to not knowing what the interface looked like.

Other suggestion, maybe a better name? 'vittk' was completely uncompelling to me (I'm an emacs/python guy), so assumed it was something not relevant to what I wanted. (I finally got curious after seeing how many bug reports there were about it...)

a better name... suggestions??

isn't the real problem the screen shot links are dead and there's no screen shot shown immediately, on the VITtk "homepage"?

VITtk has been depricated by [[vit|Vit]].

And thus I think this discussion is now moot.
