Additional fields in Roster Views #59

Open WorkerB opened 9 years ago

In our current rosters (completed in an text editor), we have additional fields and sections that are used to list things such as the time volunteers should arrive (or sound checks for Worship Team) as well as a Notes section at the bottom to list additional requirements or setup required for a particular day, service, or event.

It would be ideal if there were a text data type that could be added to rosters to add these notes. The note data type would display below the roster assignments as a second row of each roster in the Roster Assignment view.

Hi there As a partial workaround, have you looked at the notes field for a service? You can enter notes for each service in the services > edit service program page; then you can configure your roster view to include these notes as a column. Might not be exactly what you want but it sounds like it would come close.

I hadn't thought of that, and it might work for the roster of most of our teams, but it wouldn't work in the use case I'm thinking of for our Worship Team.

In our current rosters, we usually include dates and details of the weekly team meetings/practices for the next month. The notes would just have too much text to fit well in a columnar view. They really need to be a second row (in the view). The option of placing these notes in any given roster means that we could add the note only to the final week of each month and provide the same information as our current text editor version of our Roster "view".

Another workaround would be to export the roster as CSV and add your extra rows in a spreadsheet application before distributing the roster.
