I have been using a workaround. There is a family in our congregation with unusual first and last names. They serve quite often in various capacities. For example “not required” is busy in school holiday weeks. And visiting speakers could easily be adopted into the same family :)
I noticed that with our last church roster (still done by spreadsheet at present), not all the boxes are names. Other things included :-
We also have guest speakers. I have created a person called 'Guest Speaker' but I would like to be able to put in the actual name.
What I would propose is a 'comment' field for each assignment. Something like :- -comment - place on a line before the name =comment - replaces the name +comment - place a line after the comment comment - place after the name on the same line
As an extension it might be nice to be able to have a pre-defined list of options but that's probably getting a bit complex.
