Fix for issue #53

Looks great @Arnique ! I'll test it out and merge it in. FYI, there's a completely rewritten version under the next branch that will be published as v1. This version contains API changes so < v1 will still be maintained for a while.

But try it out if you like, I think that this issue is fixed there as well.

This has been merged to branch v0.10 and published to npm as version v0.10.2. Sorry for the delay
