GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Update to Safari 5.1
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below.

I am not sure if this will help the devs, but if you have the Debug (not
Develop) menu showing and use the New Single-process Window option in Safari
5.1, GreaseKit WILL work in that window, so I suspect the problem is Safari
5.1's split-process architecture.

So, if anyone wants a workaround, enable the Debug menu (google it), and either
use New Single-Process Window to get a window that GK works in, or just uncheck
"Use Multi-Process Windows" in the debug menu to make all windows still work
(at the expense of losing multiple process windows).

Thanks for your tip but I'd better wait for an update that fixes it, since I
don't wanna lose the multiple process enhance.

I can't enable the debug menu. I've tried the "defaults write com.apple.safari
IncludeDebugMenu 1" terminal command with Safari closed, but nothing happens.
Did this get option get removed with Lion? What does "multi-process window"
mean anyway?

Try

defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeInternalDebugMenu 1

However, if I create a new single-process window (or even uncheck the multi
option in general) Safari isn't loading anything any more. :( Activity Window
shows that the page is loaded and all sub elements are listed but they won't
get loaded. Even their size is unknown.

Some hints?

Are you on SL or Lion? It still works fine for me in Snow Leopard (fully
updated).

Don't waste your time on GreaseKit and SIMBL, they won't be updated anymore.

Use NinjaKit instead:http://d.hatena.ne.jp/os0x/20100612/1276330696

Supports userscripts and also userstyles.

Has someone found out about this issue? With me, the "Grease Monkey"-Menu just
won't show up, no matter of single- or multi-process (Mac OS X, 10.7.2 and
Safari 5.1.2 with Debug-menu). This is terrible!
