Rebased freedomtx-2.4 onto the opentx 2.4 branch #15

Going to go into testing/validating in the AM (it's pretty late right now), but figured I'd put it out there for the moment in case I get swamped by anything and forget it. Will try to borrow a T2 to test.

Most changes are just squashing things down together in the history to simplify the change structure over time (later changes apply easier since they're closer in to the 2.4 mainline); past that, there's some simplifications/etc that were just pulled to earlier in the timeline to facilitate merging.

After the last couple updates (7ab74ff and 5a7d908) I'm keeping my branch locked excepting bugfixes/discussion from here.

CI added yesterday - just working through minor/build issues and ensuring tests are running
