Read .out files directly

Tom,

I hope you don't mind, I've been playing with your code, and ported a bit of functionality from RAW to make it easier to use. Here's what I've done:

• Added ability to directly read in .out files, including getting Dmax from the .out files.
• Added function to automatically determine if it should read in a .out or three column data.
• Cleaned up some file opening to use the "with open" construction to be safer.
• Modified README to reflect ability to directly read in .out files.
• Added a .out file for use as test data.

You may also notice some other line changes that haven't really changed, as my editor automatically removes excess spaces and trailing empty lines.
