desktop notifications? #9

The extension looks quite good. It's great to have all communication apps in one place!

But... I'm missing the desktop notifications. Particularly, in whatsapp it's not possible to activate it. The popup requesting permission pops up and disappears immediately. Is there a way to fix this? Or it cannot be done?

I'll try to live without the notifications, but I'm afraid it might be a problem.

I was googling about it and it seems that there are requests on the Thunderbird forum to improve this and allow for notifications. Let's wait... I'll try to live without notifications for now... they will popup on my mobile just in front of me anyway.

Please feel free to close this issue or leave it open to remember in the future. I'll keep paying attention as well.

In the link above, there's a link to another whatsapp extension that propose a workaround:

  1. Open the config editor in Thunderbird.
  2. Search for permissions.default.desktop-notification, select Number and add this as a new option assigning the number 1 to instruct Thunderbird to "accept by default".

The workaround might not be great for everyone. But works fine for me. With this, I get proper notifications in WhatsApp and Zulip.
