I'm afraid I don't know the history of the two compilations. I can only guess by looking at content. Or ask Lee Belbin. I think I'll do that, since I should email him anyway.

On second inspection, it looks like almost all networks are NOT in the project database. But since the database structure is very similar and it's often hard to decide if something is a network or project (at least to me), I would keep them in the same repo and - as part of a cleaning action - combine them in one database, with a field indicating project
or network
.
It looks like "Biodiversity Information Networks Database" is a predecessor of "Biodiversity Information Projects of the World". The latter contains more fields, records and similar entries. The Canadensys network for example is present in both:
