Hi @frafra, thanks for your question.
Audiovisual Core (AC) and Camtrap DP are complementary in the sense that both deal with biodiversity multimedia resources, but they have different goals. Audiovisual Core (AC) is an exhaustive list of terms, with vocabularies for some of these terms. Camtrap DP has a narrower scope than AC and forces a certain structure and format (Frictionless Data Package). That rigidity allows for stricter validation.
Where applicable, we do indicate if a Camtrap DP term has an AC equivalent, e.g. narrower than <ac term>
here: https://tdwg.github.io/camtrap-dp/data/#media.captureMethod (indicated with skos
in the source JSON files). We also do that for Darwin Core, Dublin Core, DataCite equivalents. This can help as guidance if you want to convert data to Darwin Core and an Audio Visual Core extension, like I do here https://inbo.github.io/camtraptor/reference/write_dwc.html
I agree that it would be good to have such an explanation in the documentation. We're currently working on a paper that describes the what, how and why of Camtrap DP. We'll reference it in the documentation when it is published. I hope it will give more context.
Hi, I was wondering how much this project overlaps with Audiovisual Core and if the two are complementary. It would be nice to add such explanation in the documentation, since camtrap-dp is newer to the Audiovisual Core, and having a perspective on what camtrap-dp adds and how it relates to other existing standards could be useful for newcomers like me :)
