My comments on Pat's survey:
Biodiversity Information Standards (TDWG) will hold its annual conference 28 September to 3 October 2015 in Nairobi, Kenya. This is TDWG’s first conference in Africa! The theme of the conference is Applications, Standards and Capacity Building for Sustaining Global Biodiversity. Subprograms include: Digitization, Semantic Technologies, Phyloinformatics, Outreach and Collaboration, ePublications, Trait Data, and Conservation Informatics.
The likely venue is the Windsor Golf Resort, a secure location outside the city. http://www.windsorgolfresort.com/
In addition, a 5-day capacity-building workshop for Africans will focus primarily on biodiversity collection digitization, biodiversity databases, data cleaning, and georeferencing. Workshop dates are 21 - 25 September 2015 (the week before the TDWG conference).
To assist our planning, please complete the following survey by 5 June 2015.
Thanks in advance for your time. TDWG executive and local organizing committee.

Would making the conference a day shorter:
If you cannot attend:
ok, if hank and Lucy have no further input, will update this and let me know when I have green light to send it out. the idea is to use the chimpmail thing right ?
done poll is out via chimp and tentative list of trainings and symposia is online. deadline to answer is 5th of June.
Poll results are out see at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12Y5170ykwUSoYub13Z3U1tGi2RghZj9FXilhHgAjyGc/edit#gid=10345697 (1 workbook with 1 worksheet per question (5 in total) contains graphs plus individual answers. Total 60 answers 25 come 20 do not come 14 do not know yet. Reasons are mixed of ban to travel, but also many do not have the budget this year to come. None want to come only to the training Shortening the conference by one day has no significant impact on motivation to come or not. Many to assist to the presentations, 10 to working sessions (probably the exec members in there) and only 3 would want to try to do a remote presentation.
Thanks for posting the results. I am closing this ticket now that we have the results. We can discuss in our next meeting or by email.
