In contact with Meet in Ireland GBIF rep : llysaght@biodiversityireland.ie put in the loop different possible venues in discussions Conference bid for further analysis asked

We need a plan B !!! Unfortunately Ireland GBIF cannot host the meeting. Via the convention bureau we have other contacts, but do we want to organise this without the GBIF node ?

Dear Patricia,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I am sorry to say that the National Biodiversity Data Centre is not in a position to consider hosting TDWG in 2019. This is nothing to do with resources or management, but rather due to an internal issue making it impossible for us to consider hosting the event. Personally it would still be my desire that the National Biodiversity Data Centre might be in a position to bid to host the event in a subsequent year.

I am sorry that we cannot be of assistance on this occasion.

Very best wishes,

Liam

Well... I think we already discussed some options for this.

I would as a matter of urgency look at the following options:

  1. Combining TDWG 2019 with CETAF meeting in Leiden/Rotterdam. CETAF meeting to be held in Autumn in Leiden.
  2. Brussels (Meise)?
  3. I might have more viable option(s) by tomorrow

Kind regards, Dimitris

ok, i have contacts also for locations in Brussels for easier public transport in Brussels such as http://www.rasab.be/index.php/en/ and a dinner could be in the castle or new greeenhouses in Meise for a reception.
Leiden if the CETAF is there would be good. For Tervuren have to cross check where they stand with the renovation plans ..

For 2019 it is confirmed that it will NOT be Ireland. We are now waiting confirmation if the Netherlands will do it (probably in Amsterdam) if they would not do it, It could be in Brussels.
