29-30 May: Workshop on developing the data standard for geoscientific collection data. Berlin, Germany #14

Dear all,

please find attached an invitation for a workshop that is organized by Museum für Naturkunde Berlin for further developing the data standard for geoscientific collection data (the Access to Biological Collection Data (ABCD) schema’s Extension for Geosciences (EFG))). We will collect requirements for updating existing standard schemas and terms in order to facilitate the creation of data models (for collection databases) and for data exchange.

On the first day (29th May) we will focus on paleontological object and on the second day (30th May) we will focus on minerals, rocks and meteorites. If you are interested, please register no later than the 21st April. Please feel free to forward this invitation to your interested colleagues.

All presentations will be transmitted remotely and you will be able to ask questions that directly refer to the presentations. But please understand, that there won’t be a remote session during the interactive / discussion part of the workshop in the afternoon. Instead, we would like to ask you to send us your questions, expectations, requirements and any other kind of contributions via email. We’d be happy to include all your contributions in the interactive / discussion session and will give you feedback afterwards.

We will use Adobe Connect for the remote session. If you have no experience with Adobe Connect meeting: Make sure to check your connection: https://webconf.vc.dfn.de/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm Get an overview of the interface: http://www.adobe.com/products/adobeconnect.html

The remote session will be active approx. 20 minutes ahead the beginning of the workshop. So, we’ll be able check the audio and video quality.
