@nielsklazenga I notice you started a Jekyll site in https://github.com/tdwg/tcs/commit/634b83d3126e4d8352476a76aa6cdafa0a64c459 which is served from https://tdwg.github.io/tcs/

Screenshot 2023-02-03 at 22 31 18

The source files are in docs, but mainly contain jekyll boilerplate code and png files in the schema directory. The latter look intended to be served from https://tdwg.github.io/tcs/schema/index.html, but that URL shows a 404 page.

Are there future plans for this site? Should it be updated so that the schema files are served correctly? Is it useful to apply the TDWG design? Or is it an experiment that can be removed altogether?

@nielsklazenga I'm assigning you since you made the commit, but others can answer as well of course.

Thanks @peterdesmet, the TCS 1 documentation is served from https://tdwg.github.io/tcs/schema/1.01/index.html. I will try to put in redirects at the "intermediate" URLs that now give 404 errors.

peterdesmet commented 1 year ago

Great! I would suggest instead (or additionally) to remove all Jekyll (boilerplate) files, so nothing is served from GitHub pages except https://tdwg.github.io/tcs/schema/1.01/index.html

Submitted my comment too fast and accidentally closed issue, see https://github.com/tdwg/tcs/issues/2#issuecomment-1418288755 for my suggested action.

nielsklazenga commented 1 year ago

I did not know you could do that, but I will give it a try.

nielsklazenga commented 1 year ago

Or do you mean I should just put everything in the gh-pages branch?

nielsklazenga commented 1 year ago

@peterdesmet, I just came back from the Netherlands yesterday, so I know what time it is there and will not expect an answer. I do not seem to have the access to the repository that I used to have, so I will just try what I have in mind and we can discuss it further later.

@peterdesmet, for some reason my commit did not close this issue, but I think everything is working now as intended. So, I will leave that to you, if you agree.

The Jekyll files are indeed no longer hosted and all intermediate URLs redirect to schema 1.01 👍 Thanks!
