tdwg / tcs2

The TCS 2 Task Group will turn TCS into a form in which it can be maintained. The new version of TCS will be a vocabulary standard like Darwin Core and Audiovisual Core and will complement these other existing TDWG standards.

A combination is 'a name of a taxon below the rank of genus, consisting of the name of the genus combined with one or two epithets'. In the zoological Code it's worded differently, but the meaning is the same. Therefore, 'combination' can be juxtaposed with 'uninomial', but not with 'basionym'. Also, names of taxa at the rank of genus and above are not combinations. Yet, the name parser in the Catalogue of Life ChecklistBank API, which does everything else right, will return combinationAuthorship for names of genera etc. (see for example this request).

I have no problem with name parsers using these terms this way, but we cannot define them this way.
