As I haven't done too good a job of informing people about the outcome of the workshop at Biodiversity_Next – conference was rather busy and then I got ill – I thought we have a bit of a debrief, especially for people who weren't there. There will be no notes document for this meeting, but see issue #42 for links to the presentation at Biodiversity_Next and a class diagram that I tried to present there, but which was illegible for most people, because it had to be reduced in size to fit in the presentation.

Just a quick report of yesterday's meeting.

The meeting was attended by @baskaufs , @afuchs1 , @jgerbracht , @nielsklazenga , @camwebb and @ghwhitbread .

• @nielsklazenga and @jgerbracht gave a debrief of the Biodiversity_next conference, in particular the bits relevant to exchange of taxonomic data.
• We both had the feeling that what the community want us to deliver is an object they can put an ID on and that is independent of the taxonomic name and the according to, but defined by its circumscription. We agreed to look how to accommodate such an object in the standard (at least in the documentation). We also agreed that the concept shouldn't be called 'Taxon Concept' (or 'taxonomic'), because the sense in which the term has been used in previous standards and ontologies is "synonymous" with our Taxonomic Name Usage.
• We are going to make more work – and use – of our WikiBase instance. The hope is that, eventually, parts of the documentation can be derived form the WikiBase data using SPARQL queries. It was observed that we need to make sure that Google (and similar) bots cannot get into the WikiBase instance while the standard is not ready and the WikiBase instance is experimental.
• We sort of committed ourselves to publishing the draft standard before TDWG 2020 (I did that on the group's behalf). People in the meeting thought that is feasible.
