So.... just to avoid any ambiguity... this is 12am as the start of April 7, rather than 12am as the end of April 7 -- Correct? For example, Hawaii is GMT-10, so I should plan to attend starting April 6 at 2pm Hawaii time, NOT April 7 2pm Hawaii time. I know that it's standard to include "12am" on the day that is beginning (not the day that is ending, which ends at 23:59:59.99999999) -- but I don't want to block out the wrong 24-hour period.
Yes, that is the idea, For us in Melbourne and Canberra 7 April at 0:00 UTC will be 11 am on 7 April. For our (mainland) North American colleagues this will be in the evening and for our European colleagues in the middle of the night, so they'll probably join us much later. Therefore, if you are happy to hang around a bit longer on the next day, that would be much appreciated. I will do the same.
Nobody else on the zoom right now, and I don't have the ability to comment on or edit existing files, and don't know what should go in some of them, so not sure how to participate...
My yesterday (start of the hackathon) got complicated, so I wasn't able to start chipping away until this morning Hawaii time. I mostly focused on fleshing out the Literature document. I will try to chip away some more, but today is also getting a bit complicated....
Calling it a day. Thanks to those who participated. We made a start with the use cases and did some work on our definitions. A lot of what was said when we met on Zoom still needs to be captured in the documents. I will work on that before our next meeting (in about two weeks). Any help is much appreciated. As are any other additions and comments on the documents.
The Taxonomic Names and Concepts Interest Group is organising a hackathon to work on the new TNU Standard. This will be the first of a series of hackathons where we will all work on the same set of Google Docs – which will be the basis of the eventual standard – at (approximately) the same time. The hackathon will start on Tuesday 7 April at 12 am GMT and will in principle last 24 hours, but because of time differences will probably go on a bit longer. A Zoom meeting (https://zoom.us/j/607907193) has been set up, which will stay open for the duration of the hackathon.
The following Google Docs have been set up:
I think during this first hackathon we will focus on the literature list and use cases, but people who rather work on the other documents are free to do so, during the hackathon and at any other time.
