I have build a map with some Edge Portals.
Sometimes sprites clip when they pass the outer linedef of the Edge Portal. Mostly i don't notice it, but Cacodemons show this phenomenom more often.
I have seen it with trees too, but to see this i have to use the "Fly-mode" and fly on the edges of the Edge portal.
This known issue is a frequently observed and has been hard to fix properly. I'll keep this ticket open because I think we only have one, but for wall portals.
