Schedule online meeting -- Hangouts, skype? #1

@TJScalzo @therockster19

Check out the Getting Started project I created for the agenda.

Given that there's only 36 days until Kickoff, and assuming that we want to finish in time to play FRC Kickoff Bingo this season, we should schedule the meeting this weekend, or as soon as possible.

I know Tim's got the play this weekend, and Mariah's got her busy schedule too, so I'll leave it up to you guys to decide if the end of this week / Sunday is realistic, or if we need to push it to early next week.

Sunday would be fine for a meeting , but it would probably have to be in the morning. I'll be selling Tickets from 4 to 9 , but if in the morning or earlier would be fine. Or if you'd guys like and if the others agree , we have the meeting on this coming Monday, December 5th. But it would have to be 2:30PM to 4:00PM. Because of Physical therapy, I would have to leave a little bit early. Please let me know your preferences and see if the others agree.

TJScalzo commented 7 years ago

I probably won't be able to make it on Sunday. 2:30-4:00 on Monday will work much better for my schedule.

gisellegk commented 7 years ago

Sounds like we're going with Monday afternoon :+1:

I have class starting at 3:30 but we can start the meeting at 2:30. If we don't finish in an hour, you guys can keep working without me until 4 so that we can have our plan finished and in place.

Last question: Google Hangouts? Skype? I just got a new computer so I can download Skype and figure out what my old account is. Or we can use Google Hangouts, which I think you need to log into your personal gmail accounts (not the fpsct ones) in order to use.

I'm going to have to be at Tunxis so I'm definitely "telecommuting" in, but if it's convenient, you guys could potentially meet up at school somewhere and work together in person?

edit: whoops didn't mean to hit close and comment

I also just created a new card on the project as another thing we want to at least talk about during the meeting.

In person meetings ought to be something you do on Walsh Weds at FHS. Something new this year is that there will NOT be meetings at the Annex on Weds during build season. So time to get in the WW habit. By being visible with what you are doing you are more likely to attract additional members into the project.

Okay, it turns out I can't be part of the meeting Monday afternoon. I have an Hour of Code meeting I have to attend. When would be the next best time for you @gisellegk and @Therockster19?

gisellegk commented 7 years ago

@TJScalzo I have class from 1-3 on Tues / Thurs. Not sure about my Wednesday schedule yet because of exams -- might have the day off, might have to go in. I'll find out this afternoon.

If it's easier, we could start the Google Doc without actually having a meeting, and just type/edit stuff to get the ball rolling. idk.

I like the idea of working during Walsh Wednesdays, but I think we should get some planning done ahead of time so it's easier to assign tasks to people.

TJScalzo commented 7 years ago

I've created a Google document as a basic description of the project. It definitely needs more work (it's not very detailed) but it's at least a start. Here's a link to its card!

gisellegk commented 7 years ago

@TJScalzo it's a really great start! You hit pretty much everything at a basic level.

@Therockster19 @MrUltraRage Please take a peek at the Google Doc and provide your input as well :)

The below is addressed to all three of you:

I added 2 new sections to the document, User Experience and a breakdown of the tasks that need to be done. The tasks were based on Tim's timeline. Please do add anything I missed or change anything that might be wrong

Now the User Experience is my interpretation of what the game would look like. Please do suggest changes or describe how you imagined it to be! I'm really interested in seeing the different visions we all had on this same project.

I'm going to close this issue as no one has responded. The Google Doc is in pretty good shape and can of course still be edited.
