Hey @Talkless we have started to implement this!
Currently you can only filter by ATMs and Merchants (everything else) but we will add more layers to filter for sure.
I will close this issue for now but please check back for more filtering options in the future and thanks for the suggestion!

I don't see any, or it's implemented in app only? Or not yet published at all? I am a bit confused about "Closed" status of this issue :) .
Click top right on the layers icon on web.
You'll see ATM and Merchants. We'll add further merchant categories soon.

Oh rigth, thanks!
It's nice to be able to disable ATM's now, but could you add filter to disable amenity=bureau_de_change
too? They are also "not a vendor" per se. It adds to the noise, creates false first impression that city has lot's of places you could spend sats, but it's just exchange for dirty fiat :P .
Makes sense.

@bubelov could you add a new category for this please? Maybe called 'Currency Exchange'?
Maybe it could be grouped to "ATM's and Currency Exchanges" to avoid "overcrowding" that popup.
When I explore Warsaw via btcmap.org I do see lot of places... but these are almost exclusively ATMs or exchanges.
It would be really useful to filter out locations by their coarse category, such as Shops, Food (cafe/restarant/fast_food/etc).
https://coinmap.org/view/ has done something like that.
Question is how coarse/detailed should categories be. Maybe https://www.openstreetbrowser.org/ categories could be used?
For example, show everything by default. I you want, you can select only "Leisure, Sport and Shopping" group, or if you want only places to eat, select "Gastronomy" subgroup. I doubt there's need to go into more detail, i.e. restaurant/cafe/fast_food/etc.
